tales of conquest

Part 3: meet the Generals.

Hi, I’m Darren (Burning Beard). I first jumped into this hobby at a very young age painting lead Napoleonic soldiers. Fast forward over 30 years and here I am, still painting small soldiers, thankfully no longer made of lead.

I’ve spent many years designing and creating terrain and miniatures for different gaming systems and hope to do so for many more years to come.

I play most games and systems, but my true love of hobby lays within the smaller scales, 6-10mm. Games like Adeptus Titanicus and Flames of War. These games create that feeling of truly massive conflicts that the lager scales just can’t match.

I will be raising the forces of The Old Dominion.

Im Matthew and i will be mustering a horde of Wadrhun.

I got into wargaming, in 1997ish, my uncle had just come back from 9 months visiting family in Canada and had gotten into warhammer fantasy, he started teaching me how to play and then got me the 5th edition fantasy box set, it was the start of a long experience with playing either undead or barbarian like factions and a small 40k communist problem since 8th edition. I’ve had periods of time when I’ve fallen out of wargaming but some thing always pulls me back in. Normally the people I know wanting a game of this or that. Even after 26 years I’m still here and I’m still picking barbarian like factions.

Greetings, my name is Frank. I started wargaming in 1995 when I was 10 years old. Yes, I’m old, get off my lawn you whippersnappers! My first game was by a company no one has ever heard of! Oh all right you bastards it was Warhammer 40k! Happy now?!

My first army was the Alpha Legion.

Recently I’ve had the itch to play specialist games and games from other companies than Games Workshop, like Epic 40k, Battlefleet Gothic, Adeptus Titanicus and Aliens: Another Glorious Day In The Corps and Conquest Last Argument of Kings.

I will be rallying the Dwargen.

Im Alex and i will be commanding the City States.

I got into wargaming back when i was in primary school (2005-2006ish). Back then i had a friend who brought the then available assault on black reach box, and we got to play it (I was always the orks). At the same time i got a copy of 40k Dawn of War from a charity shop, and i became hooked. I brought a copy of assault on black reach and then with my dads help we painted all the figures.

However like all kids i got board and put the figures in a toy box. Well 5 years ago (2018) I got back into the hobby due to D&D being played at my uni. With this i got back into modeling and i wanted to do more, so i brought some Imperial Guard (as it was the start of 8th). One thing led to another and here we are, with a pile of debt, me being sick of 40k having the balance of scale made of Mercury, venturing into Conquest.

Coming soon………Part 4: The Old Dominion
