First of all, I must say that I have no prier experience with fdm printers so I will be comparing it the the set up experiences I’ve had with resin printers.

I was very impressed with the packaging for the Neptune 3.
All the parts were cradled in custom cut thick foam, keeping everything protected and in place.
Once i had removed all the protective packaging, it was time to build the printer.
This was a very easy process with only a few bolts that needed to be threaded to keep the machine together.
2 more bolts were added to attach the power unit to the frame.
Then 2 wires inserted into the appropriate plugs.
This whole process to less than 10 minutes.
The next job was to level the bed. Now, I was dreading this process from some of the horror stories I’ve heard about leveling fdm printers but this one was so easy. just click a button and it does it on its own. Excellent.
I then inserted the micro usb that came supplied and did the Neptunes test print, which is a cute little Buddha.
The print went very smooth and was surprisingly fast, taking just over an hour.
I was also taken aback by the amount of detail achieved by this fdm printer. The prints I’ve seen in the past from other fdm printers were covered in lines and strings, obscuring parts of the detail.
The Neptune 3 has none of these issues.
Once the print was finished it popped right off the build plate with one flex from the magnetic steel sheet.
As i said at the top, I don’t have any personal experience when it comes to fdm printers but I have to say, the Elegoo Neptune 3 was so easy to use.
It was the perfect printer for me to dip my toes into the world of fdm printing. At only £210 its a great machine for beginners. my only real gripe with the Neptune 3 is when your going through the files on the touch screen it doesn’t show a picture other file like it does on the Elegoo resin printers.
