Hello and welcome to part 1 of this Horus Heresy Ultramarines hobby blog. In this episode we will have a little chat about the ideas for this project as well as what I plan to do throughout this project.

Why start a new Horus Heresy Legion.

Horus Heresy is easily my favourite licence created by Games Workshop. I have a love of historical games as well as a soft spot for science fiction, so the Horus Heresy is the perfect amalgamation of the two. The Horus Heresy is the history of the Warhammer 40’000 universe, setting the scene for the 40k that people know and love now.

I treat the Horus Heresy as i would any other historical game, as to me the Horus Heresy is a historical game. It has an established lore and story that started over 30 years ago, with hundreds of books and articles that flesh out this galaxy wide conflict. 

The Horus Heresy has specific uniforms, squad markings and honour badges just like a historical game. Specific units, war gear for its factions and conflicts to re-enact.  

The aim of this project.

During this project I will build, paint and explore the history of the Ultramarines legion. I will work my way through multiple units of space marines with the aim of completing around 3000 points to use in a future campaign.
