Part 7: The 212th Attack Battalion
After many hours researching legions and battalions of Clone Troopers from the Clone Wars I have decided to paint up my Phase 1 Clones as the 212th Attack Battalion. Lets go through a little History of the 212th and their uniform, then I will explain why I chose the 212th.
The 212th Attack Battalion was a military battalion that served within the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic, placed under the command of Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Marshal Commander CC-2224 “Cody,” throughout the duration of the three-year pan-galactic Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, often serving alongside the 501st Legion, which was commanded by Kenobi’s former Padawan, Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano.
While serving under Master Kenobi, the 212th became known for their successful tactics and involvement in several major and historic engagements, such as the Battle of Christophsis, the Battle of Teth, and the Battle of Ryloth, where they fought alongside the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps led by Jedi General Mace Windu, and helped to secure a Republic victory, successfully liberating Ryloth from Separatist control, capturing Separatist Councilor Emir Wat Tambor, the foreman of the Techno Union. Later, the 212th saw action at the Second Battle of Geonosis, where they assisted in the destruction of a newly-constructed droid factory on Geonosis, and eventually managed to capture Poggle the Lesser, a member of the Separatist Council. The 212th also served alongside the 501st at the Battle of Umbara, where they assisted in retaking the planet Umbara. The 212th saw their final action of the war at the Battle of Utapau, where General Kenobi managed to defeat the infamous Separatist General Grievous.
Notable battles
Christophsis
At some point during the Clone Wars, the 212th and its Foxtrot Group were sent to Sarrish. They lost the battle, which became one of the Republic’s most devastating defeats with heavy casualties.
The 212th was sent to Christophsis, where they fought alongside Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and the 501st Legion’s Torrent Company under Captain Rex. During the initial start of the battle, the 212th and 501st attempted to ambush the droid army. However, the droids were tipped off by Asajj Ventress’ spy, Sergeant Slick and were able to force the Republic to fall back to it’s base. Cody and Rex were able to capture Slick, but not before he destroyed the base’s gunships and AT-TEs. However, the heavy cannons were saved. Using the cannons, the 212th and the 501st were able to hold out until General Yoda arrived with reinforcements.
The 212th was sent, along with the 501st, CC-1993’s battalion, the 41st Elite Corps, and General Ki-Adi-Mundi to retake Geonosis. Kenobi and Cody’s force of the 212th were first to land on Geonosis, while Skywalker’s and Mundi’s forces were forced to crash-land before reaching their landing zone. The 212th were able to use their gunships and AT-TE’s to create a circle to protect them from the Geonosians’ forces until Skywalker’s and Mundi’s forces arrived. After the destruction of the primary droid foundry, a platoon of the 212th accompanied Cody, Skywalker and Kenobi as they searched for General Luminara Unduli and Lord Poggle in the catacombs beneath the Progate Temple. They came under attack by Geonosian zombies under Queen Karina the Great. Together, they were able to rescue Unduli, capture Poggle, and bury the queen alive during their escape.

So, why have I chosen the 212th?
First, I really like the colour pallet, the white and orange “which conveniently match our website colours”.
Second, the 212th don’t have that always win ultimate heroes back story, they just follow orders.
Third, I really like the battle of Geonosis and the colour of the earth of Geonosis, so I wanted to paint a legion or battalion that fought there.
